Runner-Up: ML Campbell Krystal
For commercial-grade projects or homeowners who want the absolute hardest finish available, ML Campbell Krystal is a catalyzed conversion varnish that cures even harder than Emerald Urethane. It's what high-end cabinet shops use for factory finishes.
The tradeoff: Krystal requires a catalyzed mixing process (pot life of 8 hours once mixed), professional spray equipment, and a controlled spray environment. It's not available at retail and can't be touched up easily. We use it for specific projects where maximum hardness is the priority.
What We Pair It With: The Complete System
The best topcoat in the world will fail without proper primer and application. Our complete system for Texas cabinet refinishing:

- Application: Graco FinishPro HVLP at 5-7 PSI — atomizes paint for zero orange peel
- Environment: Climate-controlled shop at 72°F, 50-60% humidity — ensures proper cross-linking
- Cure: 24 hours between coats, 48 hours before handling, 30 days to full hardness
